Chaffer’s Champions

About Mr. Chaffer

My name is Mr. Chaffer (pronounced Cha – fur) and this is my website. Here I plan to introcue myself and give a little background information as to where I come from, a little about my classroom experience, and my mission for my class.

I grew up in a small village called Goldsborough, in the North of England where I went to the local village school, which was over a hundred years old! From the age of 11 to 18 I attended King James’s Grammar School, which was first founded in 1616. I enjoyed my time there, and remains one of the best schools in the area (www.king-james.co.uk/)

I went to University in Nottingham and graduated with a degree in Primary Education. After college I taught for several years in England before I made the move across the Atlantic with a program called VIF (www.vifprogram.com). The program brings international teachers from 32 different countries to teach in the USA. I taught in Clayton County, Ga for 2 years and I’m now in my 3rd year of teaching 3rd Grade at Northwood Elementary in Fulton County, Ga.

I’ve been teaching for 9 years now, and I love the new challenges it brings every day and feel blessed to do a job I really enjoy.

My Family and friends are very important to me and I keep in regular contact with my older sister Rachel and Mom and Dad back in England.

I’m a BIG sports fan and love to play golf, soccer and tennis.

I enjoy watching sports as well and try to attend the games of the local teams here in Atlanta:

I also like to follow the progress of my favorite soccer team back in England – Liverpool FC.

In June of 2006 I got married to my beautiful wife Leslie. Although I miss my family and friends back in England I’m really enjoying life here in Georgia.

Our Classroom

The education of our children is a team effort between the student, the teacher and the parents. When we all work together not only will the child’s academics improve but so will their work and study habits, organisation and social skills. I like to recognise and reward good behaviors but will also identify and correct inappropriate actions. Establishing good work and study habitats now will help our children in the future and I will endeavor to maintain regular contact with the parents of my students.

At the start of the school year I work with the children to generate a short list of ‘Class Rules’. It is expected that these rules wil be followed and all the students will help create a sucessful learning environment.
